Barnardo’s – WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)

Oakfield School is working with Barnardo’s to deliver weekly WRAP sessions to the Year 7 pupils over a 10-week cycle. The sessions will be held at the school during a chosen timetabled lesson.

The school will encourage pupils to participate in these sessions.  The WRAP sessions are led by the school’s Emotional Wellbeing Team.

Overview of WRAP

WRAP is an evidence-based group work approach designed by Mary Ellan Copeland in the United States of America to help people manage their emotional and mental health.

WRAP has dual benefits as a preventative model and in supporting existing emotional and mental health difficulties.

WRAP is designed to help you:

  • understand what can impact on emotional and mental wellbeing
  • prevent or decrease troubling feelings and behaviours
  • increase coping strategies
  • increase peer/community network
  • recognise early warning signs (and crisis planning)
  • develop an individualised coping plan
