    Personal Development

Oakfield School defines Personal Development as the holistic development of pupils, equipping them with essential skills and qualities that go beyond academic achievement.

We recognise that students’ personal, social, and emotional wellbeing is integral to their overall educational experience and future success. The ‘Personal Development Programme’ for 2025/2026 can be accessed below:

Impact of the school ‘Personal Development’ programme is evidenced in the number of NEET’s, pupils being prepared for the next steps after Oakfield and pupils having a rich array of opportunities.

    Theme Days

The purpose of the Theme Days is to give our pupils experiences outside of the normal curriculum. The themes are decided each year based on the needs of our pupils at that particular time. For example, a diversity theme day was planned and delivered to enable the pupils to better understand different cultures.

    Our aims:

    • To provide experiences and other opportunities beyond the classroom to develop the identified needs in the pupil’s EHCP’s.
    • To provide opportunities to develop and further establish relationships with staff so that the pupils are more confident, comfortable and secure to enable them to feel safe enough to ‘make mistakes without fear of reprise, which enables learning.
    • To acknowledge success and achievement beyond classroom learning.
