Building Schools for the Future
Oakfield School PFI, part of the city wide Building Schools for the Future Programme.
Oakfield School has moved to a newly built school on Hopewell Road with provision for 80 pupils aged 9 – 16, in addition, to a residential provision for 35 pupils.
The new Oakfield School includes many facilities not present at the old site, including a Sports England standard Sports Hall, Gym and Changing facilities, a state of the art Design and Technology facility and Science Lab, as well as new ICT facilities and Media Room. ICT facilities have been added to all 10 teaching classroom, as well as the new art room with kiln. The recreational times of the day are catered for with Keystage 3 and Keystage 4 Hubs and a Rec Room. External facilities include Playgrounds, football pitch and a floodlit Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).
The new Residential Provision consists of 6 Houses in 2 blocks of 3 Houses around a central courtyard. Each 3 story house consists of Kitchen and 2 living areas on the ground floor, 3 pupil and 1 staff bedroom on the first floor and the same on the second floor. House 6 is DDA compliant with a larger living space and lift to the first floor, which has 2 larger DDA compliant bedrooms. All bedrooms have on-suite facilities and blackout blinds to ensure all staff and pupils get a good nights rest.
The new Oakfield also has a Multi Agency Space on the first and second floor of the main building which should be occupied by the Summer Term.
